About me

I am currently an Assistant Professor at the
Department of Computer Science at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT NOVA), Portugal, and member of the research center NOVA LINCS at the same institution. Beforehand, I have been an invited assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science, FCT NOVA, and a PostDoc researcher with an individual grant from the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology (FCT). I have also been a visiting researcher at Kno.e.sis, Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, USA in September 2011, directly after finishing my PhD in Computer Science at Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

My research interests are in the area of Knowledge Representation of Reasoning. A particular focus is set on combining ontologies and non-monotonic formalisms in the Semantic Web, in particular related to the FCT-financed project
ERRO - Efficient Reasoning with Rules and Ontologies. As part of this project, together with Nuno Costa, Vadim Ivanov, Vedran Kasalica, Carlos Lopes, and João Leite, we developed the NoHR reasoner as a plug-in for the ontology editor Protégé.

Recently, I
won the 2015 edition of the IBM Prize Portugal.

A list of my publications can be found
here. They are also listed under ORCID 0000-0003-1826-1498 and my ResearcherID J-4220-2012, in Google Scholar, and in DBLP.

Information on other activities can be found here.
